Here's my situation: The prints for the job was vague in specifying the exact type of pools to be installed, when they arrived one pool was non- conductive and the other was metal. There was no grounding done for the rebar around the pool, I looked it up in code 680.26 under the alternate means and from my understanding " if I drive a ground rod 6" deep into the slab and run a piece of 8 awg from it around the pool I should be in compliance. What do you guys think.

I think we need more details on the design, listing, etc. of these pools or tubs in order to determine exactly which sections in 680 apply to them.

From what has been said so far sounds like 680 part VI likely applies, but depending on other details may send you to parts I, II or III.

If it is actually a hydromassage bathtub (which is defined in 680.2) part VII applies.

If it is a listed packaged spa I would think part IV would apply.

Well it's the Vanderbilt Football Hydrotherapy pool, which isn't a bathtub, I searched article 422 for the requirements of training facilities and gymnasiums, but found nothing really specific

Packaged Therapeutic Tub or Hydrotherapeutic Tank Equipment Assembly.

A factory-fabricated unit consisting of water-circulating, heating, and control equipment mounted on a common base, intended to operate a therapeutic tub or hydrotherapeutic tank. Equipment can include pumps, air blowers, heaters, lights, controls, sanitizer generators, and so forth.


Permanently Installed Swimming, Wading, Immersion, and Therapeutic Pools.
Those that are constructed in the ground or partially in the ground, and all others capable of holding water in a depth greater than 1.0 m (42 in.), and all pools installed inside of a building, regardless of water depth, whether or not served by electrical circuits of any nature.

Now go to 680 part VI and there you will find 680.60, 680.61 and 680.62 will lead you down different paths depending on what applies.
680 part I and VI applies to both items mentioned above, the permanently installed pools need to comply with 680 part II which includes 680.26 that you mentioned in OP.
If it is a packaged assembly part VI applies - 680.62(B) tells you how to bond things.
