- The customer would like to add a 20Kw generator on top of the garage. I plan on installing the ATS in the detached garage (where the 600A service disconnect lives), and link it with the 200A MLO panel in there. From the detached garage I will run a conduit to the main house, where it will terminate in a 100A MCB panel (as a second feeder, allowed by 225.30A(4) IMO). Compliant?
- Customer is considering upgrading the service to 800A sometime in the future and we would like to prep for it. Plan is to run a conduit between garage and house (starts in a pull box in the garage and ends in one of the panel in the main house), w/o any wires in it. We're under 2017 NEC here, so running multiple feeders to one building is allowed only under certain conditions, but starting with 2020 NEC multiple feeders are allowed if fed from a common supply (225.30(B)). Is there anything that prevents me from running a conduit for a use that is currently restricted but is allowed in future code cycles (we will wait w/ the service upgrade until 2020 or newer code gets adopted).
