Have a note on my drawing for all my ATS's to provide 2 hour rated cable for the control wiring. Is this code?

700.10(D)(3) Generator Control Wiring. Control conductors installed between the transfer equipment and the emergency generator shall be kept entirely independent of all other wiring and shall meet the conditions of 700.9(D)(1).

It does not matter if that is in the code or not. It is specified by the engineer of record and must be complied with as a contractual requriement.

Standby and emergency generators have different requirements. Generally the Generac that allows for the "cable assembly" are sold for the standby generator.
An emergency generator is often "required" to work over a prescribed period of time and under very harsh conditions, This one presented by the OP might have been determined by AHJ need to be able to function for a minimum of 2 hrs. under any adverse conditions. UL 2196 requirement is for fire rating of 2 hours and to maintain functional integrity over that entire period.

What type of occupancy? Where? I am required to have 96 hours because we are a class 1 trama facility in an earthquake zone.
