We have hundreds of Auma actuators scattered around our different sewer plants. Several different models. Most of them are less than 2 years old.
They are failing and/or getting out of adjustment on a regular basis. Most of the problems are in the limit switches. Sometimes it is the gearbox getting tight, causing an over torque.
I have talked to the factory reps about a possible defective design and I can't get a decent answer from them. They have repaired a few under warranty and they seem OK for now. Most are out of warranty and many more will be out soon.
Today I "borrowed from Peter to pay Paul" by taking one off of a valve that was for future expansion. The gearbox was locked down on it, it had never been operated, power never hooked up, six months old. So, I removed another one that was for future expansion.... Gearbox locked down on it too!
I took it apart and got things freed up so that it would work. I needed it for a piece of critical equipment.
I think that there should be a factory recall on them and they are biding their time waiting on warranty's to run out, then repairing them at our expense.
