(Apologies if this is a repost - I can't find the post I put up a few minutes ago...)
Lighting fixture manufacturer here. We have a customer that wants some of our products in Australia. They sent us some requirement that they think would apply to our product:
DECORATIVE LIGHTING OUTFIT ? AS/NZS 60598.1 and AS/NZS 60598.2.20:2002.
SUPPLY FLEXIBLE CORD ‐ AS 3191:2008; or AS/NZS 60227.5:2003 with amendment 1 (PVC); or AS/NZS 60245.4:2003 with amendment 1 (Rubber).
EDISON SCREW LAMPHOLDER ? AS/NZS 3100 and AS/NZS 3140:2007 (until 30 December 2016) or AS/NZS 60238:2007.
CORD‐LINE SWITCH ? AS/NZS 3100 and AS/NZS 3127:2005.
PLUG ‐ AS/NZS 3100 and AS/NZS 3112 : 2004 with amendment 1.
Can someone educate me here? I don't know anything about the above references. I guess my questions would include: What is the equivalent of UL with regards to portable, cord & plug luminaires? Are these standards available for me to review? If so, where?
(I should mention that the customer's AHJ has stated that our UL listing will suffice, but the customer still wants assurance that our product meets the AU/NZ standards, even though they will not be listed to those standards.)
