On my way home last night, I passed a neighbor's house and saw his tahoe in flames. I'm no expert, but from my assessment (for whatever its worth) was that something shorted in the fuse box under the hood. It certainly looked like that's where the flames originated. He was involved in a wreck a couple of months ago, and was hit on the side that the fuse box is on. Oddly enough, about a month or so ago I had an electrical fire in my sierra pickup. My cell phone charger shorted and started to catch fire. I yanked it out and threw it in the back of my truck. After starting back down the road, a couple of miles later smoke started coming from behind my dash. I had to pull to the side of the road and yank the dash bezel out. The wires feeding my aux. power in the console were melting all the way back to the fuse panel. I checked the instructions that came w/ the charger and it said to never leave it plugged in when you're not in the car. seems like good advice now. point is, unplug your stuff when you're away, unless you need the insurance money. :D
