Nothing all that special. I think I eluded to the fact before that pretty much anyone can write a trade magazine article and send it in, and there's a very high likelihood that it will be published. They are really hungry for writers. I'm sure that many others have gotten PM's and emails asking for that sort of help. The message typically starts out something like, "I just read your post on blah, blah, blah, and wondered if you'd be interested in writing a short article for XYZ Magazine..."
