Ok , so im looking for a new portable for my own home. I have a generac 5500 but it's not great with all the LED lights and tv's in the house. Question is Im looking at the honda 7000is which is $$$$! Is the full out Inverter model worth the money over the AVR technology? I found a 5k honda AVR for under 2k$ new. Opinions please, just dont know if the extra money is worth the all out inverter one. Thanks

I've found that the inverter type generators don't do well with surge watts. If you have a motor inrush (ie: well pump) that exceeds the rating of the generator, it won't start or may be damaged.

We had a major ice storm 20 yrs? ago. TVs etc all ran fine for weeks on properly sized generators. You have to select loads you want running at one time. Undersizing a generator and expecting it to start heavy loads is a poor design issue.

Honda is not the only inverter system out there. My SIL has one from northern tool that he is quite pleased with.

Last time it was run it was only the fridge and a tv and cable box. Lights buzzed and occasional flicker which is also why I didn't use my good tv. Saw the avr Honda is about half the price of the inverter model
