Re: AWG vs european wire size

I take it that you need to convert European sizes to something easier to understand for Americans?

To convert from mm2 to kcmil take mm2 times 1,974. For practical purposes you can ignore the 2% error and take mm2 times two to get kcmil.

If you write out the table it looks like this. I have used decimal comma instead of decimal point. European thing, you know :)

Sq.mm...kcmil

0,05....0,099
0,08....0,158
0,09....0,178
0,14....0,276
0,22....0,434
0,25....0,494
0,34....0,671
0,5.....0,987
0,75....1,48
1,0.....1,97
1,5.....2,96
2,5.....4,94
4,0.....7,90
6,0.....11,8
10......19,7
16......31,6
25......49,4
35......69,1
50......98,7
70......138
95......188
120.....237
150.....296
185.....365
240.....474
300.....592
400.....790
500.....987
630.....1244

Re: AWG vs european wire size

Thanks for the help with my request. I was able to figure out to 18 awg but we were dealing with 20 to 24 awg so thanks for the chart C-H.
