Would a breaker feeding a windmill need to be secured in place by an additional fastner(408.36f) The windmill needs grid power to operate so I am not sure if it would be considered a backfed brk. This unit will shut down after power is lost from grid.So by pulling the brk it will not have power on it.any thoughts?

If the lugs of the breaker will still be "live" when the breaker is Off, then is is considered to be backfed and will require an additional mounting restraint.

Re: back-fed devices

every backfed breaker I have ever seen has a sticker on it that says "MAIN" or something along those lines.

I bought 14 of the hold down brackets for a project I am working on but they did not come with the sticker.

do you have to buy the sticker seperately?

thats what i had expected, but the shop tells me none of the 14 hold down brackets came with a sticker.

Maybe I need to look for myself.

newt,

So,the windmill produces power? and it needs grid power to operate?

When grid goes down, you need to open the windmill breaker,is this the case?

I did go look for myself. The stickers were there sitting next to the boxes. Apparently they were confused because the stickers said MAIN PRINCIPAL. I guess the dual language sticker confused them.
