If you lose phase A in a 120/240 singel phase three wire breaker panneland and no longer have 240volts from A to B can you back feed thru a 240 volt appliance circuit breaker like a range and put the 120 volts of phase B on to phase A and if so when you turn the range on and off will it make the lights come on and off that where on Phase A .Would the lights be in series with the range element and give a voltage reading less than the original 120 volts.please note that the pannelboard still has 120 volts from phase B to neutral it is only phase A that is opend. Thanks for your input ecvolt. Please note this question is only for trouble shoting information and is Not Intended to be a wireing Method that I would ever use

Right here.
Yeah, you could do that without a problem, but none of your 240 stuff would work. The function of the range's controls will not affect anything by any means. Also, what do you have planned for if your phase "comes back"? That'll be a bolted fault, and might be dramatic. Sounds like a retarded plan, in any event.

Achtung!

Alles touristen und non-technishen looken peepers! Das machine is nicht fur der fingerpoken und mittengrabben. Is easy schnappen der springenwerk, blowenfusen und popencorken mit spitzen sparken und flitzenflamen. Das machine is diggen by experten only. Is nicht fur gerwerken by das dummkopfen. Das rubbernecken sightseeren keepen das cottenpiken hands in das pockets. Relaxen und watchen das blinkenlights.

The entire backfeed would be through the resistance of the range element. This would be totally load dependent so it would be impossible to predict what the reduced voltage would be at the A phase backfed side A simple series parrallel ckt in frozen time. You should not be ashamed to ask a question like this it just shows that you are thinking and give a hoot about your work nice job carry on!! Dont let these guys bully you around with any noncense think for yourself GO BIG BLUE!!!!!
