If you want to up sell on something that you see that needs to be done thats fine. Just because you did a lousy estimate, or you missed something, thats not the customers fault. This is the school of hard knocks sometimes.
If you have some uncertainty's, then add 5% or what ever number you like to the estimate. The customer doesn't have to know.
Yeh, that really was helpful....."I have a good idea", why do you think he's asking?
An "estimate" is exactly that. A "quote" is another animal altogether. Yes the answer here is live and learn...but not if you have some people skills that you can use on your client, I do and it works great for me...If it's your "living" or career then you must put the right price on the job. Dont feel rushed in your pricing decisions, it always works out poorly.
Oh, and another thing, being an Electrician oddly enough, does not make you a better person than your fellow man. Just DEAD if you do your job without care.
