i just received a spec sheet on a particular project requiring bare egc's inside of conduit on all runs. Since when is it acceptable to install bare wires inside of conduit? dont ALL conductors need to be insulated?

Re: bare egc in conduit

I seem to recall there are a few cases where it is prohibited to have a bare AL EGC - such as underground, or in a metal conduit (disimilar metals maybe).

Or maybe my rememberer is off base.

You never put bare AL underground. It would not last long.

I belive that bare EGC in metal conduit is to be bonded to the conduit at specified distances to prevent arcing under fault conditions.
