I work in the Philadelphia area, about 30 miles North of the city. I have an employee that is interested in learning all he can with regard to electrical troubleshooting (HVAC control circuits, motor starts), basic electricity, ohm's law and eventually up to three phase. 208 and 460 systems.

Budgets are limited. I looking for an online free or cheap training courses and slowly advancing him.

I've sent employees to Lewellyn and NTT courses before but they get quite expensive.

Any recommendations?

You pay cheap, you get cheap.

A good education is not going to come cheap, but you/he will reap large benefits for a good education. I always tell the contractor to have the employee pay for it, or at the least pay for half of it... they will always appreciate that in the long run.

If cost is a real factor, why don't you purchase a few of the books Mike Holt sells here. Let him sign them out - if he does not return them, it will come out of his pay - this way you can build a library for future 'stars'.

His Theory book, and "Understanding" series are very good for people who are trying to learn code and some understanding. The illustrations are excellent and speak a thousand words.

Good luck!!
