I have recently been attending a class that is going over the changes in the nec 1996-1999 code changes, how ever there seems to be a debate over section 210-11[c][3],this instructor insists that you cannot run a dedecated 20amp circuit from bathroom recepticals only and go to a diffrent bathroom receptical, and possibly to a nother bathroom receptical.can some one please tell me,i said to the instructor that you can,and my mechanic,we had a little wager on this.and i lost 100.00 dollars, and now i would like to at least some how correct our instructor as to not con fuse furture followers of this class. thanks mike.

Re: bath room gfci outlets

Fizer, the word "outlet" is very important in the discussion. A "receptacle outlet" is a utilization point for a plug connected device. An "outlet" is any utilization point(hard wired light fixture, fan,...or plug connected).

There is an exception to 210-11(3) that allows "outlets for other equipment within the same bathroom" to be served by the dedicated circuit if that bathroom is the only bathroom on the dedicated circuit.

More than one bathroom on the dedicated circuit and "receptacle outlets" only.

Take a look at recent topic from some days ago.

NEC >> Bathroom Circuits >> April 24

There's enough ammo there to back up your position.
