Am i reading this correctly? 210.23a states that a 15 or 20 amp branch circuit shall be permitted to supply lighting units or other equiptment or a combination of both in the bathroom as refered to by 210.11 b3 exception, or are we allowed to supply only the receptacles on the bathroom, small appliance and laundry circuits in a dwelling unit as specified in 210.23a exception?

The SA and laundry circuits can only supply receptacles, and only in their respective designated locations. There are two options for bathroom circuits. Option 1 is to supply only receptacles, in which case you can suupply receptacles in more than one bathroom from the same circuit. Option 2 is to supply anything you want in a bathroom (lights, fans, receptacles, heaters, whatever), in which case that circuit cannot supply anything outside that same bathroom.

210.11(C)(3) tells you you need to feed the bathroom(s) with at least one 20 amp circuit. The exception allows you to use that circuit for lighting and/or other equipment if the circuit is dedicated to a single bathroom. 210.23(A) allows you to use a circuit other than the ones specified in 210.11 (C)(1),(C)(2),(C)(3) to supply lighting and other equipment.

His is disturbing? Man, have you looked at yours? Yours is from the 'my anus is bleeding' video on YouTube. That's the first thing that pops in my head every time I see yours.

What disturbs me, Marc, is that you would know that!

Personally i think both rules suck.Given the choices if it was my house i would run 12-3 and put lights on one leg and receptacle on other.Maybe catch a few other light only circuits on the light side or perhaps the smokes. But with copper prices today things must change to the meet code and forget about owner.
