Does anyone know when the code changed banning OCPD's in a bathroom? In addition, when were panel access space (working space) requirments inplemented? I inspected a home (1930's construction), with a basement panel (installed 1969) in a bathroom. The toilet is right in front of the panel.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Re: Bathroom Electrical Panel

"240.24(E) Not Located in Bathrooms. In dwelling units and guest rooms of hotels and motels, overcurrent devices, other than supplementary overcurrent protection, shall not be located in bathrooms as defined in Article 100."

However, I do not believe that provision was in the Code in 1969 and the Code is not retroactive. :D

I looked at the 1993 code, and confirmed that this requirement was added at that time.
