do the lights, fans, etc. in a residential bathroom have to be gfci protected? can multiple bathrooms be on the same circuit or does each require a dedicated circuit?

Re: bathroom gfi circuits

You may do the following:

Place the entire bathroom on a single 20 amp circuit. The outlet(s) must be GFCI ptotected.

OR

Place the outlets in all bathrooms on a single 20 amp circuit. The lights, fans and heaters may be on any general purpose circuit, but may not be on the same circuit as the outlets in the bathrooms.

In other words, the outlet(s) in a bathroom must be GFCI protected and on a separate 20 amp circuit. if this circuit serves one bathroom only then other fixtures in the bathroom may also be on the circuit.

Re: bathroom gfi circuits

"do the lights, fans"

Maybe.

If this was a fan/light combo over a shower then yes to the GFCI protection. The above answers are correct. This is an exception.
