!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-WARNING-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before the kissing gets started it might be a good idea to ask if they have tasted any of Roger?s chilly.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-WARNING-!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should the receiver of the kiss have tasted some of Roger?s chilly the giver of the kiss might receive a short blast of air across the face during delivery of the kiss.

Re: bathroom outlet if GFI.

GFCI products are more reliable today than in the past, even the recent past.

Jim
If we have to be concerned with a product failing after we install it, whether a GFCI receptacle or even a light fixture, then there is no sense in even installing any product ever. So we install accordingly and hope all works as it should. ;) Part of "its not a perfect world"

Re: bathroom outlet if GFI.

The perfect GFI is made by NASA or somebody, costs $571,000,000 dollars and is only perfect when installed with triple back-up and constantly monitored by a specially trained application engineering team.

I think these are required in all commercial applications in California. :D

Re: bathroom outlet if GFI.

Ok while we are bidding I have 1 slightly used BK award there is a reserve and a large shipping and handling fee who wants to open the bidding ??

Re: bathroom outlet if GFI.

Fact is many gfci receptacles fail.Ever think about the one your changing that's next to a pool.It gets caught on the sale by a good HI (see i once in a while give them credit).Given a choice i won't put a recetacle near the bath/shower ,but if its on the print then it goes in.

Re: bathroom outlet if GFI.

I have found out over time that gfci`s that are line sided don`t have a long life expectancy.Direct exposure to the elements does have an effect on how long they will last. This is just a conclusion by actual insallation and not by any study ;)

I can't argue this from any point other than my understanding of the design, but I don't see a single reason that this would be true.

Maybe you could elaborate on your experience.

Re: bathroom outlet if GFI.

Sam a gfci was missed on the rough in OK a screw up we line sided a gfci from fm room circuit no choice 2 story slab house. We have replaced it 4 maybe 5 times in past year .Why the location was right under run off from a roof we caulked in use covered just what it is a scientific answer well I am not a scientist just a dumb old sparky

Re: bathroom outlet if GFI.

I don't mean to try to pick on you Allen, just intereted in more info on your experiences with load siding and differences in problems related to it.

Re: bathroom outlet if GFI.

Here in sunny Florida we do get high humidity and lots of rain.GFCI outside just simply do not hold up.While legal it proves to be a poor choice.Open one up someday (defective one )there is no way that circuit board could take water very long.Best to keep the outside recepts on slave side.

I don't know about you, but I am at my most humble when lavishing a wet one on someone's fair fanny.

I am not the best there is. Just today I endured a lecture from my apprentice about what a hack I am. Go figure.

Re: bathroom outlet if GFI.

George I admire your attitude (still goes to prove that we are all the best electricians on gods green earth)As far as GFCI`s Failing as line sided ,you go replace 75 to 100 in a year and tell me what`s up.Like I said no study just experience.Oh and Roger you don`t have the exclusive on breaking my _ _ _ _.Just seems for some reason one day I rubbed you wrong and here we are :D Sorry Charlie had to go there

Re: bathroom outlet if GFI.

Allen, the problem is, your head is permanently in the way. :D

Re: bathroom outlet if GFI.

Well, it's nice to see Roger and Allen making up, or whatever it is they're doing, just before the holidays, or dare I actually use the word Christmas in public anymore, guess I did.

More seriously, Jim makes a really good point about line siding exterior GFI's. Although it seems rather obvious, I hadn't really conidered it before.

Re: bathroom outlet if GFI.

Merry Christmas Roger,it`s been quite a year of butting two stubborn heads :D Well one more coming.
