Battery disconnects

What are the standards for hooking up a 400a 24v string of batteries to a 24v power plant. Currently the power plant has a disconnect built into it. The problem I see is that their is no physical disconnection point. The disconnect is controled by software. Is there a code for connecting batteries of this size?

article 480 seems to cover battery banks and does not mention disconnecting means being required for the bank itself.

most of the time these kind of things have a main fuse that can be pulled and is often used as a disconnecting means, but I am not so sure I would want to try and pull a 400A fuse out of its holder as a disconnecting means.
