Customer wants to install a MTS along side his panel and plug in his batteries (about 120 Ah) to just a couple of branch circuits. Other than 702.4.B.1, what should I keep an eye out for? I have not seen the battery setup, yet. I do know that it has a 120V AC inverter output.

I would say that the wiring method would be just the same as for a portable or fixed generator filling the same backup power source role, whether or not the code specifically calls out this situation.
It is not a utility interactive inverter, so none of those rules would apply.
