I have a school where we are providing an automatic door opener at an existing door. The door does not currently have the ADA-required clearance to open the door in the egress direction and the opener is being installed to make it ADA-compliant.
The school does not have a generator. Is the door opener required to have battery backup in the event of a power loss? I can't find any openers with a built-in battery, which would lead me to believe it isn't required, but the reviewer is asking for it.
