Be careful to keep fresh - or NO batteries - in your equipment.

I learned the hard way!

Now I remove the batteries if I don't plan on using anything for a month or more. For equipment I use frequently, I keep fresh batteries in them.

The worst offenders are the type AA batteries. Possibly because I use more of them than any other.

I have lost many a flashlight, good ones, to battery corrosion. Had corrosion problems with meters, radios, etc. Everyready brand has been the worst offender, even within the "use by date".

Send the device with the batteries to the battery manufacturer and they will replace it. I have had Duracell replace several flashlights. One Pelican cost over $200. They sent a check. This is why you never mix battery brands.

I have never had a Varta battery to leak.

Yet.
