hi
is it acceptable to use general purpose motor in battery room that is classified CLASS 1 DIV. 2 ?? and the expected motor temp is T3=200C.
THANK YOU.
Based on the responses to my earlier questions, the motor is probably acceptable since it should be unnecessary if the room is designed properly.
A battery room designed and installed per Article 480 shouldn't need to be classified even in light of Section 480.9(A). Fortunately, the amount of hydrogen generated, even in a high charge, diffuses very rapidly if the general ventilation is designed properly. That's an HVAC issue.
The AIT for hydrogen is 520C (T2B) so the motor's T-Class is ok but remember, once you classify the location Class I, Division 2, Group B, T3,
everything else in the location, luminares, receptacles, etc. must also be suitable.
