In a old brick row house landlord doesn't want to spring for a new furnace, wants BB heat instead. My questions are 1) since there will be no air flow can I use the ductwork as a 'chase?
2)What are the 'up's' and 'downs' of wiring the stats for 120v.The issue is panel space; to have room for the DP bkrs I'd have to replace ALL the 1" bkrs with 'cheaters'Even then I'd need 10/2 to disco the heat by floor (instead of by room)

Re: BB heat

1) I don't think so. If you are using NM cable, there is a potential that it could be damaged on the sharp edges of ductwork. To me, it's a gray area, and I would be hesitant to do it.

2) You can use an T-stat that mounts on the baseboard to solve that issue. Or you can use a low volt T-stat and an electric heat relay. I really wouldn't go to the 120 volt BB heat route.

3)If you are having issues with space in the panel, add a sub. The cost of all those mini-breakers can quickly add up to the cost of an MLO panel in no time.
