Trying to find more information in the NEC about putting a central vacuum system in a closet and laundry room.

What specifically are you trying to address?

Take a look at 422.15. Also keep in mind that the central vacuum system is an appliance and needs to have a disconnecting means in accordance with Part III of Article 422. Most likely this will be coverd by 422.33.
