hello here at the plant we have two metal bandsaws line side is 480 vac the the smartguy installed. I wired them up.Now the problem is these big saws leak so much water on the floor. Now the smart guy build a mote around the saws with two pumps to feed coolant back to the saws.My question is there a code problem here? I get a call to troubleshoot the contols but too get to the plc and relays and power , there is 2inches of coolant in the mote and they want me to stand in, i sad heck no. This has to be a code problem Right
?the drop parts fell off the saw, and damaged the control cables.Hum maybe i need to go too my safety dude and tell him to troubleshoot the electric.

What would some of you say?

Hrm, if it were my call I'd have a grated sump for the coolant/lube to splash into. Evidently they built some kind of curb around the saws to act in this regard, so all you would need is some grating at the same height as the curb. As an added bonus, the grating should prevent the material cut-offs from falling and damaging the control cables (which are running across the floor?)

This was the best pic I could find: (I recommend the yellow tape as well, lest someone trip on the curb and fall into the saw...)

Standing on water and in water are grossly different hazards in my opinion. Where's that pic of the guy working while standing in an aquarium?
