Getting ready to wire a log cabin, but this one has a beam and perlin roof system and i have never done one of these before. Hoping for a few ideas here the roof consists of beams then the tongue an groove ceiling finish then felt then insulation board then furring strips and then the sheeting and shingles. They have got the t&g and the insulation up wnd want me to wire the ceiling lights including 16 cans. Got any idea how you run your wires in this mess and also what would be the best way to cut the t&g for the slope cans? As always thanks for the help......

is this a post and beam house? you can run your wires on the outside of the house between the furring then drill down next to a beam and put track lights. or you can drill through the beam and use a surface fixture

is there enough space between the tongue and groove and the shingles on the outside for cans?

Hehe nothing on the plans for the electrical... Gave the builder the spec sheet on the cans and he said there was enough space there for them. So you can run under the furring strips was wondering if this would leave enough space for protection . Got any ideas on easiest way to cut slope cans in t&g? Also will have a fan hanging from the beam would you use a self feed bit to cut in a fan rated box and then just drill thru the center for the wire?

No easy way....

No easy way....

We've done a few like that. I'm assuming bats for insulation and not rigid? As far as the cans go, the Juno slopers we use have a cut-out template. Take your time with a GOOD jigsaw is the only way I've found to do it.

We did a post and beam with prefabed 6" foam insulated walls and roof panels a few years ago. Take an extra circuit or swithleg along wherever you can. "Absolutely no light, just a ceiling fan." turned into "I need more light!" a few years later. I didn't believe them in the first place so we were prepared.

Use EMT or rigid to sleeve the wires you lay under the sheeting.

post and beam houses are always fun to wire. you really need to plan out your wiring and make sure you get everything finished before they finish everything up or else your in for one hell of a time fishing
