Can someone tell me where in the nec2008 that says bedrooms can't be run from other areas other then bedrooms.

You will find no such thing in NEC.

You will find other areas such as small appliance branch circuits, laundry circuit, and bathroom receptacles that are not allowed to supply outlets in other areas, as long as you are not on a circuit with this requirement you can pretty much put the rest of the house on what ever you want.

Before the 2008 code we were only required to install AFCI breakers on bedroom circuits. There wasn't, and still isn't, any code that would not allow you to extend a bedroom circuit beyond the room, however, we often kept bedroom circuits separate to avoid AFCI in places where they weren't required.
