Belled end up or down

I hope this is easy for everyone because I can not find it any where

Does the NEC have a requirement for what way the belled end of a PVC 90 should be installed. I would like to know if any standard is out there NEMA ect...

I looked and looked for the NEC rule. I got a real old inspector in cincinnati
they use a company called the IBI for inspection. The old inspector said it was up side down. I said if it had no bell at all the coupling would make the same joint....
No answer from him?

Bell down. Just my preference. No reason other than looks.

Maybe, just maybe, in northern climes there might be a case made for bell down to prevent water infiltrating the joint and breaking it up with freeze/thaw cycles.

For aesthetics, I'll install bell-end down.

More importantly, I consider bell-end direction orientation as it pertains to wire pulling. I want to be pulling where my head enters the bell end of the conduit.

I would agree.
On a directly related note if the bell (or stationary) section of a vertical expansion joint is not installed with the barrel down, they will definitely allow water intrusion which will bust the joint if exposed to freezing temperatures.
