So i was using the arrow mark on the bender, foreman says why are you using the arrow? I say it doesnt matter i could use the front of the shoe, as long as i use it again on the second bend. He says no you should use the center of bend mark, it comes out cleaner. Always thought center mark was for saddles and matching somebody else's bend. Any comments? Thank you for your help.

You were correct in saying it doesn't matter, all that changes is where the bend starts in relation to where your mark is located. If you use same multiplier for same offset distance you will still get desired offset as long as you use the same point on the bending shoe as a reference for your marks, but actual position of bends in the finished piece will be different for each possible reference position.

I use the center mark most, just because it is easy to see. I will use the arrow, end of the bender, a ding mark that showed up when I dropped my bender one day.....

When you are just bending one offset it's not really a big deal. Multiple offsets require more attention to detail.
