bending wiremold

There is a specific bender. It will keep your bends uniform, takes no time at all, and doesn't distort the coating. Sure, you can use an emt bender, but it will look like bird poop on a new car.

Depends on the type of bends you are making.:)

I have made small offsets in wiremold with a 3/4" EMT bender and they look very nice.

Never bent a 90 or anything like that though.;):)

You may try protecting the wire mold with masking or blue painters tape in the met bender. I have done this for small offsets in the past. If not you will trash the finish.

The value of the correct bender is that it is molded to the shape of the 500 / 700 cover. As the WM is bent, the side walls of the bender saddle prevent the cover from splaying away from the steel base.

After I got mine, I never regretted getting it. As Mr. Natural says, "The right tool for the job makes the hard job easy and the impossible possible."

I can't even remember when I last ran wiremold. Now that I said that I will probably run some witnin the next week. 1/2 EMT bender works great for bends up to about 22.5 degrees any more than that and the amount of distortion is not very acceptable. It will scuff the finish at times, that is why they sell touch up paint. I usually find that I need touch up paint occasionally anyway so I usually keep some with my wiremold fitting supply.

Same here. Most times it is what I use even though I have a wiremold bender.

If someone told me they could bend a 90 in wiremold I would not say they couldn't, but I would have to see it before I believed it. :)

1/2 inch EMT offset bender also works with Wiremold 500 series. It is pretty hard on the paint though. If entering a junction box with standard KO's and a Wiremold box adapter in a suspended ceiling, just make sure the offset is completely above ceiling and then the scuffed paint is not really a problem.

I have used my knee, emt benders, tri stands, space between two objects, the best tool so far is a WM bender.
