Often compressor harnesses for A/C units have relatively light wires for the compressor harnesses. Let's say 12 ga. THHN. If the connection needs to be made to a 40 amp. definite purpose contactor with lug connections, then what is the best connection to make?
-bare 12 ga.THHN inserted directly under the lug (the wire doesn't fill much of the opening)
-compression lug
-female quick disconnect to the blade terminals (don't use the lug connection at all)
- something else
In the past, I have had supervisors direct me to squeeze down a fork or ring terminal so that it would fit under the lug. I never felt that was acceptable.
Please let me know.
