basically I'm just looking for something thats pretty simple to use and isn't too expensive. all ill be designing is small 11x17 prints of additions and small houses electrical. so basically just receptacle, switch, and light locations.. i could do it by hand but its a pain and it doesn't look professional at all. thanks!

Bricscad. Works with Autocad DWG format so it is easy to use floor plans from architects when they are available.

Dassault Systemes Draftsight. Free version works just like AutoCAD and works with the DWG format. For basic stuff the learning curve is not too bad. You can draw your parts and save
them as blocks to insert in your other drawings. So once you have your parts drawn it is simple to reuse them in whatever arrangements you need. As a plus, if you learn that then you
can run AutoCAD if you ever need to.
