I am ready to connect 4/0 Aluminum feeder wires to the pass-thru lugs of a 50 year-old meter/breaker box at the pole, but the lugs have the ends of the copper busses in them, and appear to have copper compression hex-screws. What is the most workman-like manner to make these connections. I know for each conductor I could use a CU/AL rated splice to a short 2/0 copper pigtail to the lug with the tools i have, but it seems a little messy. . A copper-pin-to aluminum adapter would work if i had a 4/0 crimp tool, but most of my work had been downstream of the feeder so I don't have one. Thoughts?
