Best terminology for describing a Tesla Gateway/Enphase System Controller installed as service equipment

What is the best term to describe when the Tesla Gateway or Enphase System Controller replaces the main panel as service entrance equipment? We've used "MID installed as service entrance equipment" but we've heard others call this a "Meter Intercept" or "Main Panel Intercept". But the term "intercept" is usually used to describe the intercept of a conductor, not a device. We considered using the terms "Main Feeder Intercept", "Service conductors intercept" as well.

Relatedly, what is the best terminology for the controller itself? I understand it to be a multifunctional device that serves the role of a microgrid interconnect device (MID), a controller, a generation and distribution panel, and a grid-forming transformer. We've been using the term "MID" since that's how it's referred to in the NEC, while we've heard others call it an "ESS Controller", a "Microgrid Controller", or just a "Controller".

I think you're overthinking it.
You just have service equipment that also contains an MID. Those are the code terms. Or, if you like the term 'service rated ATS' then use 'service rated MID' (although 'service rated' is slightly less code-precise).

As far as the controller itself, from a code and product development point of view the various functions can be in the same piece of equipment or different pieces of equipment so I'm not sure the point of coming up with a generic term that may not apply across different terms. I might use any of the terms you suggested, but without capital letters.

Note we are now seeing MIDs in meter collars but we'll still likely also have some sort of 'controller' equipment that then doesn't contain the MID. I'd encourage a precise use of MID to refer to the component that does that, or at least the equipment containing that component, and not equipment that only does other stuff in a microgrid.
