In an addition to a home the HO wants an additional chime unit in the remote area of the addition. There is an existing doorbell unit for the older portion of home.

I'm thinking I need an additional chime unit and upsize the existing transformer?
What size transformer should I look for?

Best doorbell is one that barks before the visitor even presses the button at the door :D

I think most chime kits come with a 10VA transformer. I have occasionally purchased a 15 VA transformer when there is two chimes.

The 10 might work, but may not have enough power to pull the chime(s) solenoids hard enough to get as loud of a ring as just one on the circuit would.

In most cases, you can simply parallel two chimes. If it doesn't work, you'll need more current, not voltage, or an electronic doorbell extender.
