In terms of an AHJ looking at adopting the NEC where EU color codes and practices are used and acceptable.
It seems to be a standard practice in the US to use Blue for a hot and in the EU Blue is the neutral or grounded conductor. As The blue for a hot is not mandated in the NEC and it is mandated as a neutral in 220/400 systems in over 50 countries. The logical soloution for a AHJ whom is impacted by both standards is to stop using blue as a hot.
My question is where is the best place to insert a local amendment prohibiting the use of blue in new installations but not in equipment? Since UL accepts blue neutrals now it will be common to see them in splice boxes and wireing compartments etc.
Here is a sample proposal:
"200.6 (F) 1) Certified equipment, appliances and cords containing a blue grounded conductor shall be permitted to be used in accordance with its listing and labeling. 3) Grounded or ungrounded blue or light blue conductors shall not be used in new raceway installations covered by the scope of this code. 3) A white or grey conductor conductor with a light blue stripe may be used to identify grounded conductors of 50 HZ 230V to ground systems."
Does anyone have any examples of jurisdictions dealing with blue conductors in local NEC amendments?
Thanks
