I need to run power to hot tub from banjo pedastal mount panel, mount gfci spa panel, put a new panel on the pedastal because the existing 150A panel has no free spaces, it is extremely small, I am just planning on replaceing it with a 150A panel with a few more spaces in it, I need to run power to the shed with one recep for a washing machine and one recep for general use. Trench from panel to spa is to be 50' long with 3-#8's and 1-#10 Ground. Trench from panel to shed is to be 60' long with 2- 15Amp circuits.
Permit is $35 in this county.

Let me know what you think?

Re: Bid 2 Win

I think you can do it.

Do you want a number from me/us?

What are you planning on putting in the trench...UF, PVC, RGS?

Can thin/half-sized CBs be used in the panel?
Why not just up it to 200A?

Re: Bid 2 Win

Good luck getting the job. Ive been finding if you offer to do pools and spas for next to nothing you run a fair chance of winning the job. If you charge what the job should cost, the homeowner will bury nm at 3" deep just to spite you and prove that they "know 'bout lectricity".

Re: Bid 2 Win

can you run "2-15Amp circuts" to the shed?

See 225.30

As for the spa, what do the manufacturers specs say about the wire size?

Re: Bid 2 Win

Im going with $2800 - tax, title, and license. Anytime I here the word trench I add $300 because I know Im going to get my nice Red Wings dirty.

Re: Bid 2 Win

pvc in trench...
150Amp just needs more spaces and I just figured it would be easier than changing the nipple from the meter and the wire from the meter just to give a 200A panel that is feeding a 60A main in the trailer and a spa and a couple of 15A circuits....

I believe so as a multiwire circuit is permitted according to that section.?
Minis won't work in existing panel...
the existing panel is odd it has several breaker spots available in the dead front, but when I took the dead front off, none of those spots had busbar to snap a breaker in...
I quoted $2,200.00
just wondering if I'm in line with what other contractors charge.
I was planning on a day-labor digging the trench for me, that person would cost me 8hrs x $13.99 for one day through a temp agency? (any opinions on doing this would be also appreciated)
Maybe, I should have bid a few hundred extra.
I'll still make money but maybe not the contractors money I should make on a job like this.
thanks for all your input

A multi-wire branch circut is permitted as per 225.30, but from the original question, I didn't believe that's what you meant. I got the impression that you wanted to run say (2) 14/2's which would be 2-15Amp circuts.

I don't know about the day laborer digging a 50' and a 60' trench 18" deep in 8 hours. You also have to back-fill it. I don't know your soil conditions, but here, anything over 20' and it is cheaper to use a machine.

I would guess around $2600, without seeing it.

Re: Bid 2 Win

you're right lukewarm, you busted me...
I didn't remember the limit of one circuit to a detached building... but when I read the code section cited I just learned that if I wish I may run a miltiwire circuit, (heck the HO didn't specify 2 circuits, and I don't like multiwire circuits, so in this case they will probably only get one circuit anyhow)
