On the commercial jobs that I have been estimating, when I'm done I usually fax the Bid price on a company letter head and wait on a response. It's not my formal contract. It just basically gives the scope of what is being done and how much it will be. If they accept then I will use my pre made contracts and fill in the blanks.

Do you guys do something similar, or do it completely different?
I want to protect myself but not get to technical until they actually sign the real deal.

What does some of you're proposals say?
Would you be willing to share?
Thank you.

If asked for a price, that's all they get.

"...as shown on the documents for $X."

If they want me do do the job, we'll sit down and hammer out a contract.
