Big Ass Fan

They're so big that if used in a confined space indoors they will rip off a man's toupee. (Actually I have no idea). 😏
 
It might be the sound Not sure, But I put some up like that in a garage, They were loud. As I recall the mounting bracket was really weird, too.

Since it's sealed, maybe they are worried about somebody thinking it's ok to use in a hazardous location? You know manufacturers have to cya against trial lawyers! LOL!
 
IMHO, I wouldn't pay that many $$ for that fan. There are other industrial grade fans that are suitable for damp locations. Also, judging by the looks of the canopy I can't imagine that you would get a good seal on your wiring unless you are flush to the ceiling. Just my 2 cents worth.
 
I agree with Goldstar. They're throwing $1500. 00 away.
The similar fans I was talking about the sound. It was coming from the amount of air being put out. Not the fan motor,
But companies always price some of their products higher. Because some people want to pay more.

There’s a lot of truth in this. Back in the 80s when I was in the industrial compressor business, German products were always cheaper and they just didn’t sell here. Then the dollar plunged vs the Deutsch Mark and those products’ USD prices became comparable to or exceeded ours. People started buying them thinking more money = more quality.

When I was in the specialty gas business, there was a company that developed a kick-ass hydrogen purifier. Amazingly cheap, too. So much so that no one would buy them. They cranked the price up 10X (might have rebranded as well) and couldn't keep them in stock. Go figure.
 
The do make an indoor fan (*looks the same)that has a longer warranty -- No where in the install instructions does it state for outdoor use only -- Low height restrictions for fan blade indoors are not unusual.

That is the exact reason I slowed down on any electrical side work quite a few years a
back.
it seems like when I tried to price myself out of business I made a lot more profit on less work, but people called all the time because I was an electrician and a POCO employee. I guess they thought I was really good at the prices I was quoting.
I continued to go up on my prices for a year or two until the phone stopped ringing.

The jobs I did take on were hugely profitable and were worth the headache.
occasionally I’ll get a call from a utility contractor that needs help converting some old banks under a building to overhead banks with new services. Duke pays very well for those.

I have a niece in her 20s like this. Everything she owns is top shelf name brand. Thousand dollar purses and shoes.
Thankfully my wife realizes the stuff from TJ Maxx looks just and good and is fully functional at 1/10 the price!
