Have any of you guys installed one of these 20 foot ceiling fans? I need to know what kind of labor, special equipment, etc., is required, to come up with a cost to install two of them on a 35 ft. ceiling. Thanks for your help.

I have the 24 foot one in my shop, it was a beast to install. You can get installation tech support on their website.

We installed one a few years back and just used a scissor lift. I believe after all the unpacking and mounting of the support to hold the fan and such it took 2 guys about 6hrs to install.

My post was edited for launguage? Not being rude, just calling it like it is. I get my B-A newsletter every week and have worked with thier B-A support team. That is the name of the company and they have fun with it, lighten up.

That is the correct name for these fans. I believe the ones we have to install are 24ft. The plans go by " BAF" but the correct name is Big Ass Fan. I don't necessarily like it but it is what it is. We have to wire 10 this summer and maybe 16 but we will see. They weigh 500 lbs so you would have to have a plan. The HVAC guys have to install and we wire. Good luck on your install.

our Wall Mart has one of the Big Donkey fans at the garden exit door registers, I think it was the first time I have ever seen a fan that big, it had to be at least 24' across, it had a steel angle iron sub frame mounted to the ceiling that the fan bolted to, the motor looked like at least a 1 hp and a large speed control, I remarked to the guy in line behind me, "now I know how they raise the roof for summer" LOL

Yes there has always been rule for inappropriate language in the forum rules, but now the new software is supposed to remove the words and leave **** in place but I don't think that word was put in the list, what could be normal language to one could offend another, so I think it's a good idea to keep it clean, I'm not sure why they don't have these rules published any more? I do like the rule that a child under 13 can join the forum but they have to have their parents permission, ok I don't know that many 13 year olds wiring houses? so this seems to be like the NEC, a rule that seems to contradict the rule of being related to the electrical industry to join.

Some times it seems like that's all that's wiring houses:)

Yea I know, it was this rule in the FAQ link:

If you are under the age of 13, the administrator may require that a parent or guardian provides consent before allowing you to complete the registration process. More information about this is available during the registration process.

Kind of contradicts the requirement of being associated to the electrical trade. LOL:grin:

I personally haven't wired one, but our shop has done some. I know when you turn the speed control all the way up, it moves some SERIOUS air!

I'm told they put one in the local Walmart D.C. but they either had to cover up or remove the "ass" in the logo.

We can't turn ours past 7, it knocks over storage lockers. We normally keep it on 1 in the winter and 3 in the summer.

Installed 5 in a one million square foot wharehouse. Two fans had smoke dectors,

would shut the other three off if they sensed smoke. Scissor lift, 30 feet up,

two men 7 hours. After the first one, the others go smoother.
