Re: Blast Freezer Wiring

To bad temperature correction factors don't go down that low. You might be able to push 20 amps through #22's and have it nice and warm...

I am kidding of course.

Re: Blast Freezer Wiring

Yes, but I don't know what they would be. The wires under the hood of my car can probably stand very extreme temps. and fast changes.

Rubber coated wire may work (more of a question than a statement)??

Why not call a wire company like Southwire?

Re: Blast Freezer Wiring

Wire is usually at that temp during normal operation,so there is not a sudden change. The blast is for the food product. Also thank you for the SouthWire lead. :D

Re: Blast Freezer Wiring

I work in areas that get down to -50F every year. We are required for all branch ckt conductors to pull XHHW. It will not crack or break in the cold temps. We have had tons of problems when we get equipment that has been prewired from warmer areas and then it gets put in our harsh environment. Roof top units, prewired outdoor fuel skids to name a few. We have explicit instructions not to open any covers to do wiring until they are tented/tarped and heat has been able to warm up the wire/junction boxes.

Re: Blast Freezer Wiring

Sorry, I should have put, we pull XHHW when its for outside wiring. Also, we only temp and tarp when we are working on equipment when its cold!
