Blue Book is a good way to receive a large amount of Bid Invitations. However you can bank on the fact that that 90% of the time the GC listing the Project is looking for the lowest (not necessarily accurate) price he can get.

Not to say you cannot win any jobs via Blue Book, but it is very competitive. I typically only bid jobs off of Blue Book ITBs when my regular GCs do not have me bidding anything for them. I have been able to get about 1 job over $50K per year from Blue Book invites.

If you do join keep in mind that the ITBs through the internet will come to just the same no matter what size ad you place in the book.:)

Blue Book is a useful tool. A lot will depend on what Geographic area you are in. It tends to be good at pulling in out of town GCs who are doing a one time job (restaurant, retail fit up, motel, etc).

Blue Book does a lot of other peripheral things for its customers (free on line takeoff, etc) that make it worth looking at.

I advertised this year in it and it has not done squat for me. I know it's hard to blame it for doing so poor with the economy and all :(
