Hello
I am going to do wiring on a new boat dock (not a floating kind)just wondering what kind of light fixturs would best be installed, the owner wants under rail lighting for the top deck and it is a 36x36, he does not want it bright and wants 120 volt type.
any suggestions

Re: boat dock lighting

Sounds like the customer is looking for soft, ambient light that will not attract too many bugs?

Re: boat dock lighting

this type of guess work can get you in trouble -- what you or i consider the correct lighting ambience could be too dim or too bright in the customer's oppinion! remember, most docks are not effected by surounding light sources. and a small amount of direct light can easily hid the appearance of the dock. have the customer look around at other docks and select his lighting for you to install -- he will know what he's getting and you will know what to install---therefore you'll both be happy! what are you gonna do with some expensive vaporproof fixtures that were not right in his oppinion???????????

Re: boat dock lighting

Yes we have looked at the vaporproof, not too appealing to him but it being on the water needs something that will hold up to the moisture.

Thanks for insite
still keep looking
