What articles should I be looking at for a residential boat lift? 555 can be a guideline and should be followed but not required correct? I used a 2 pole GFI to feed the equipment, all PVC, datum line. What else?
 
Section 210.8(A)8 which you already comply with. In the 2017 NEC non commercial docks are now included in the scope of Art 555.
Interesting change in 555 requires signs about electrocution hazards
