Good morning.
I'm looking at an existing pool that has had the surround concrete demolished, and will be replaced with travertine tiles on tamped gravel and sand. I found two small pieces of rebar poking out of the center of the shallow end wall, and there is a hydraulic cover operator at the deep end.
What should be done for bonding? I know about needing the mesh under the travertine, as well as any metal such as ladders, and a water bond. The main question is whether I would need to expose existing rebar to connect to like one would for an Ufer ground in an existing footing.
What should be done if I can not find rebar to expose? What might I be missing or forgetting to ask about?
What the pool looks like now, a piece of rebar poking out, and a side wall with no rebar exposed:
