Recently I was asked to provide a grounding bushing on a 3/4 inch EMT power feed entering a disconnect for a crane with concentric and eccentric KO's. The voltage was 480 volts. I was told the EMT connector was not a sufficient means for providing a bond in this case. The inspector sited sections 250.96(B) and 250.97.I don't mind changing or adding to a job if I'm shown I was in error in understanding the code. Even in this case it was no big deal but I have to know if I'm right or not.In reviewing these sections of the code I think it gives the use of approved EMT connectors as satisfactory. If we are looking in the wrong place or if I'm wrong please let me know. Re: Bonding around concentric/eccentric knockouts

Jerry, This has been a part of the code for several years. Art 250.97 refers you back to 250.94. And basically what the AHJ is saying is correct. Anything over 250 volts has to be bonded around concentric knockouts if the enclosure is not listed for the purpose. We have found it is easier to just go ahead and bond everything over 250 volts with concentric knockouts instead of trying to find out if the enclosure is listed for the purpose.
