I have a job to swap out a panel the panel is fed from a 100a disconnect where th N/G bond occurs. Three wires feed the panel with mettalic conduit. I used a bonding bushing on both ends of the pipe with a short piece of no. 8 to the ground bar kit on 1 side and another short piece from the bushing to the neutral/gnd bar on the main end. The wires were existing in the pipe so it was not practical to install an egc.

I used the bonding bushing set up because I did not want to rely on the locknut as the only way to clear faults for the entire house. I look at this set up as a better way because the pipe and locknuts could have been the only groud path per NEC? correct? What do you guys think, is it over kill? Would this have been a good time to use a bonding lock nut.

Re: bonding bushing?

And some would even pull a separate ground conductor in all conduit. The code requires none of these but the code is a minimum standard. If you feel that grounding bushings make sense then by all means use them.
