Are copper spires or finials required to be bonded to the grounding electrode system? Specifically in residential construction.

Lightning will strike the spire regardless if the house has electric wiring or not. Bonding is not required for this spire, nor is grounding.

Is there any reason you would suspect that they may become energized?
Is there a lightning protection system on this house by design?
No, there is no lightning protection system other than the grounding electrode system.

What is the code to back up this information? Would it not need to be treated the same as an air terminal?
